READ ABOUT MEMBER REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS BELOW:
In order to become a member of NJHS, you must have a 3.5 un-weighted GPA in your core academic courses and maintain a 3.5 GPA each consecutive year that you wish to remain in NJHS. Students should not have any academic or behavioral referrals.
In this society, we stress key leadership qualities to help these honor students develop their amazing potential. Specific points of importance include scholarship, character, service, leadership, and citizenship. These five virtues are essential to understanding the purpose of NJHS.
Students will be required to earn points relating to Community Service, Monthly Meetings and Project Donations.
COMMUNITY SERVICE POINTS - Students are required to earn a total of 15 community service points per school year in order to maintain membership in good standing. If you fail to earn the total points required, you will be put on probation and required to make up the missing points within the first quarter of the following year.
MONTHLY MEETING POINTS - Students are required to attend a minimum of five (5) of the eight (8) meetings held during the school year. This does not include any special meetings which might be arranged and attendance mandated. If you fail to attend the required meetings, you will be placed on probation for the following year.
PROJECT DONATION POINTS - Students are provided opportunities to participate in community, state, national or international projects through donations. Some projects involve the donation of physical goods or items, while others involve monetary donations. Students are asked to participate in at least one project of your own choosing. A total of ten (10) donation points are required. IMPORTANT NOTE: We understand that not all students are able to participate in this category. If this requirement places an undue hardship on any student or student family, please contact the NJHS Sponsor directly (Ms. Gullick) and we can make other arrangements for students to meet this requirement.
